Heater repair

Upon inspection, the customer reported two issues: leaking seams on the plenum and an improperly connected power supply whip for the condenser, which also had an exposed ground. We discussed the options, and the customer opted to replace the whip. We sealed the seams using silicone and metal tape, then removed and replaced the condenser's whip. After cycling the unit, we confirmed the cooling system was functioning well with a delta T within range, 410A temps in specification, and a clear drain. The customer chose not to add flood protection. The 14x25x1 filter was clean, and the system was cooling effectively.

A recent installation involved addressing a defective gas valve in a new unit. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the gas valve was indeed faulty. Leveraging the warranty, a replacement valve was obtained and installed. Post-installation, the entire system was thoroughly tested to ensure all operations were functioning correctly. This included verifying the gas valve's performance, checking for proper ignition, and confirming that the system maintained stable temperature control. The unit was left in optimal working condition, ensuring the client's satisfaction and comfort.

I conducted thorough inspections and maintenance on several units. For Unit #4, I cleaned filters, inspected the blower belt, and ensured there were no gas leaks. I also cleaned the pressure tube and flame sensor, and blew out the blower wheel and combustion cabinet. Units #6, #9, and #22 had good filters and clean flame sensors, with no gas leaks detected. Unit #11 and Unit #15 both had defective blower caps but good filters. RTU#17 requires a 10mfd capacitor and filters. Unit #16 had good filters, a leaking but in-range blower cap, and no gas leaks.

Upon arrival, the customer reported that the heating system was not activating when set to heat. Additionally, they had been experiencing difficulties with thermostat programming. I cycled the system to emergency heat, which successfully activated the system and restored proper operation. I also removed the existing programming from the thermostat to simplify its use. Although I offered a heater tune-up to ensure optimal performance, the customer declined this service at the moment. The system is now functioning correctly, and the thermostat has been simplified for easier use.

Upon arrival, the customer reported a recent home inspection that identified the need for a new whip for outdoor electrical and resealing of seams on the plenum. I began by assessing the existing outdoor electrical whip, which was found to be worn and in need of replacement. I carefully removed the old whip and installed a new 3/4-inch whip, ensuring it met all safety and performance standards. Next, I inspected the plenum, focusing on the seams and connections. These areas were resealed to prevent air leaks and ensure optimal system efficiency. The work was completed with attention to detail, ensuring all connections were secure and the system would operate efficiently.
