Spent the morning out in Justiceburg taking care of AC maintenance. Their 4-ton Carrier system was installed about five years ago and has been holding up pretty well considering our West Texas heat. Gave the condenser coils a good cleaning - had quite a bit of mesquite pollen and dust built up on them. Checked and tightened all electrical connections, tested capacitor (still within spec but showing early signs of wear), and inspected the evaporator coil which was surprisingly clean. Refrigerant levels were just a tad low, so I added a bit to get back to optimal charge. Replaced their standard filter with a pleated one and cleaned out the condensate drain line which was starting to get some algae growth.
